2 Prenatal Visits
These meetings give us time to get to know each other. We will discover your hopes for your labor and what fears you may have. I will provide you with the resources you need to make the decisions that are best for you. We will also go over comfort measures you can take during pregnancy and the different stages of labor. We will discuss when you may want to call me once labor begins and signs that it’s time to head to the hospital or to call the midwife if you are having a home birth.
Phone and Email Support
Do you have questions about pregnancy and early labor? Do you want to to discuss something that your doctor or midwife brought up during a prenatal visit? Do you just need some emotional support? I will be available by phone or text for you or your partner any time throughout pregnancy. You are welcome and encouraged to contact me after visits to your healthcare providers.
Continuous Labor Support
Studies have shown that the memory of your birthing experience will stay with you always, and it is my goal to create the best possible experience for you and your partner. During labor, the techniques we’ve discussed during our prenatal visits will come to life. I will support you emotional and physically. I will also facilitate communication between the you, your partner and your care providers to make sure you are aware of what is happening at all times during your labor.
Once baby is born, I will support you with initial latch-on after birth and provide breastfeeding support pre- and post-birth.
Postpartum Follow Up
Once you and your family have settled in, we will schedule a postpartum visit to discuss mother’s health, well-being and recovery. We can discuss the birth experience and I’ll answer any questions regarding newborn care. I’ll also recommend resources or referrals if needed.
Looking for more hands on postpartum support? I can provide additional postpartum doula services including, but not limited to: emotional support, educational support, meal preparation, household organization (laundry, dishes, light housekeeping), infant care, care for older children, running errands, or just an extra set of hands.
